A Smart Buildings Evening was held on the 6th of December 2018

The evening was part of the EarlyTech Business Meets Science series of events, in this case @ Hogeschool PXL in Hasselt (B)

More than 60 people from industry and academic partners enjoyed multiple presentations on the topic of Smart Buildings and were able to exchange ideas on this topic with “Facility Manager” students and students active in the construction of buildings.

Especially the key-note presentation of Onno Willemse (Global Business Director Smart Buildings – Royal Haskoning DHV) was inspiring as he brought the experience and learning points of several Smart Building cases all over the world.

Some of the addressed questions were: What will be the impact of “Smart Buildings” on the user, the exploitation and the management of these buildings? What kind of new technologies & applications will be implemented in these buildings? What exactly is “Smart” about these buildings? What brings value to the different stake holders?

As a result participants reported that although the presentation took 1,5Hr they never got bored or lost attention for a moment…

Other speakers from Zuyd Hogeschool, WTCB and PXL invited to participate in newly starting projects on the topics of Smart Buildings or even a Smart Campus.

The evening was concluded with a gathering and exchange of ideas, I am pretty sure new Smart ideas have been discussed.
